The timely movement of technologies to the private sector requires innovative, relationship-based approaches that unite academia, industry, non-profits, financiers, and government toward common outcomes. LIINC has proven to be a valuable tool to bring individuals together in meaningful and sustainable ways to keep the private sector aware of the latest in technology and innovation at the University and to keep researchers in touch with the problems and issues that the private sector seeks to solve. LIINC is an excellent model for filling that ever-present gap between industry and academia that will have a substantial impact on the quality of research vis-a-vis industry needs.
