Butler Venture Accelerator Program at Babson College
Outside the classroom, Babson students live entrepreneurship through the comprehensive John E. and Alice L. Butler Venture Accelerator Program which is the result of faculty and staff working together to define a framework that provides access to resources for student and alumni entrepreneurs to move their business ideas forward. The resources available through the program include workshops on a wide range of topic areas, workspace and advising/mentoring. Each level has one or more faculty advisors who are experienced entrepreneurs. These faculty teach one or more entrepreneurship courses at Babson, so the advice they provide is consistent with the content delivered in the classroom. Resources become more individualized and customized as students progress through the program. Students earn more resources as they achieve specific milestones. In the 2011-2012 academic year, the Butler Venture Accelerator program provided resources to 327 entrepreneurs working on 258 concepts/businesses with 54% of the participants at the Explore level, 34% at the Pursue level and 12% at the Launch & Grow level.

I'm a first year MBA student and a part of the Babson's Hatchery. Babson gave us free space in MassChallenge and we get amazing support from Blank Center's staff. We could meet a couple of VCs, get lawyer connections, etc through the Blank Center.

The Butler Venture Accelerator Program is outstanding. I was able to start my own company within a few weeks after putting my ideas onto paper and talking with a mentor in the program. I highly recommend this program to anyone with even the vaguest of ideas. The Explore level is excellent for getting you to think through your initial ideas and to select one to go with. The important thing is that you simply start working on your best idea as soon as possible and realize that you'll likely change directions a couple of times as you learn more about the marketplace. The Pursue and Launch & Grow levels help you navigate these changes to your original idea and put you on an eventual path to success.
